2016-2017 Season Performances

Kubecca

Rarely, if ever, can you experience such an amalgam of musical expression as is the musical act known as Kubecca. Kuba Kawnik with his penchant for esoteric instruments and classically trained jazz background would seem worlds away from Rebecca Lowe's love of Broadway shows combined with her fondness for pop and country music. Common thought would not give great odds that two such different talents could collide and ever be united into a cohesive whole. And yet, this couple has accomplished just that.

These two wonderful performers: an acclaimed Broadway musical vocalist and a spectacular Vibraphone virtuoso and multi-instrumentalist, now married, are enjoying great success as they team up together onstage in venues ranging from performing arts theaters in the United States to jazz clubs in Poland to the world's top cruise lines.

Their program consists of widely varied Broadway, pops, country and classical tunes such as Tico Tico, Flight of the Bumble Bee, Don't Rain On My Parade, Good Hearted Woman, Only You, I Dreamed a Dream and Make You Feel My Love.

Victoria Banks

Victoria's list of accolades as an artist is long. Her self-produced, self-penned records When You Can Fly and Never Be the Same made her 2009's most nominated female artist in Canadian Country Music, earned her the 2010 CCMA Female Artist of the Year award, and sent her out on tour with superstars Reba McEntire, Wynonna Judd, Lonestar, Randy Travis and Johnny Reid. But songwriting is her first love.

Now a staff songwriter at Nashville's RareSpark Media Group, Victoria's impressive catalogue of hits includes 3 cuts by Sara Evans including "Can't Stop Loving You" (a duet with Isaac Slade of The Fray), and the ASCAP and SOCAN-award-winning "Saints & Angels." She penned Jessica Simpson's Billboard record- breaking country debut "Come On Over," X Factor winner Tate Steven's "Ordinary Angels," One More Girl's breakout hit "When It Ain't Raining," Doc Walker's chart-topping "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" and Johnny Reid's smash "Dance With Me," for which Victoria was named 2010 CCMA Songwriter of the Year.

Victoria has earned a place as one of the most respected artists in the Canadian Music Industry, the admiration of Nashville's music elite, and the label of "one of the best songwriters in the business" by Nashville's Music Row Magazine. In a world where authenticity often takes a backseat to marketability, Victoria's music is a unique breath of fresh air.

Cherish the Ladies

Under the leadership of the dynamic and irrepressible flute and whistle champion Joanie Madden, these ladies create an evening that includes a spectacular blend of virtuoso instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements, and stunning step dancing. Their continued success as one of the top Celtic groups in the world is due to the ensembles ability to take the best of Irish traditional music and dance and put it forth in an immensely entertaining show.

The New York Times calls their music "passionate, tender, and rambunctious," and the Washington Post praises their "astonishing array of virtuosity." They've won recognition as the BBC's Best Musical Group of the Year and named Top North American Celtic Group by both the Irish Music Awards and NPR's Thistle and Shamrock, not to mention having a street named after them in the Bronx! They've collaborated with such notable musicians as The Boston Pops, The Clancy Brothers, The Chieftains, Vince Gill, Nanci Griffith, Pete Seeger, Don Henley, Arlo Guthrie and Maura O'Connell as well as being the featured soloist with over 250 nights of symphony orchestras.

They are in constant demand worldwide as their reputation and admiration from both fans and critics alike continues to grow. Their name may come from a traditional Irish jig but after thirty years, they've proven that the jig is still not up as the ladies blaze forward into another decade of music making!
